As part of the great tradition of classical music, the competition seeks to discover and recognize young musicians - instrumentalists and singers - of the highest calibre and artistry.
The competition is open to young instrumentalists from all countries who intend to pursue a professional career in music. The 2004 piano competition is open to men and women of all nationalities who, on January 1, 2004, are between the ages of 16 and 28 inclusively.
For the semi-finals and finals, the Jeunesses Musicales Montréal International Competition panel of judges consists of seven internationally acclaimed figures from the world of music, two of whom are Canadians.
The panel of judges has complete discretion in selecting the prizewinners. The jury reserves the right not to award a prize if, in its judgment, there is no suitable candidate. The judges’ decisions are final.
